If I vote online can I still vote in person?
No. Each voter has an individual anonymous voter key. All voting in person will be done online as well at one of our computer stations.
I live outside of St. John's/NL. Can I still vote?
Yes. If you feel like you have a stake in the outcome of St. John's Pride Week, you may vote.
I've never been on a volunteer board before. Should I run?
Yes! Persons of all backgrounds and experiences are welcome to run for the board. What matters most is dedication and a commitment to seeing out your responsibilities.
Why are there so many questions to vote online?
We are keeping track of voters to ensure their connection to the community while broadening the voting base as much as possible.
Why is the Co-Chair Internal not being re-elected?
As per our by-laws, written and approved by the electorate last year, the co-chair positions are two year terms. The current co-chair finance and external were interim, internally elected to replace those who had resigned. Those two positions are up for the election.

Hi Tony, Sign up for the online voting and at midnight, an election key will be sent to you with a link to vote. That will take you to the site where you rank your candidates!

How would you describe a day in the life of a St Johns Pride Inc Board Member over their 12 month term? What is it like to be on the SJPI board?

It varies for the positions. Things are generally calmer in between Oct-Feb as we concentrate on getting affairs in order and coordinate outreach. From March on, meetings are once a week and things pick up with the festival planning. The auction takes significant amount of work and planning and is one of our key fundraisers. In May/June/July, things are very hectic and moving quickly. The Pride Guide is put together, all events are scheduled and planned, and there are usually a fair number of fires to put out as the date draws nearer. I was working around 20-30 hours a week in June and July getting things ready. It can take some of the weight off though if you have a consistent board, though this has not been the case for the past two years.

Thanks Taylor, that helps give me a better idea of how to plan my year out if I am successful in being elected as one of 6 members at large, should voters put that confidence in me.
