The Directors-at-Large constitute the majority of the Board of Directors, double that of the Co-Chairs. Directors-at-Large (DAL) work on a system of "project portfolios" which are chosen by the Director upon their election based on their strengths and interests (granted some portfolios may have to be assigned if not voluntary taken). Ideally, these portfolios would be distributed equally, but this is dependent on the individual Directors and their availability and presence of other commitments. However, general duties and responsibilities include:
serve a one (1) year term (notwithstanding removal or voluntary leave)
in tandem with the other Board members, ensure the productivity of the Board as a whole
partner with, support, and when necessary assist and be assisted by one (1) Co-Chair
give regular verbal or written reports and be accountable to the Co-Chair most closely aligned with your project portfolio
complete a comprehensive year-end report and annual return by August of each year
Here are some of the working titles of current project portfolios passed down by the 2014 Board (to be amended, amalgamated, and created as St. John's Pride needs shift and grow organically):
Administrative Officer (linked to Co-Chair Internal unless delegated)
City Liaison (linked to Co-Chair Internal unless delegated
Events Coordinator (linked to Co-Chair External unless delegated)
Finance Officer (linked to Co-Chair Finance unless delegated)
Sponsorship Coordinator (typically performed by Co-Chair Finance unless delegated)
Inclusion Advocate
Grant Writer
Branding and Corporate Image Coordinator
Community Liaison
Website Coordinator
Festival Programming
Festival Site Coordinator(s) (2)
Parade Coordinator(s) (2)
Internal Structuring
Community Connections and Outreach
The best method of campaigning for a Director-at-Large is perhaps to emphasize your strengths, skills, and work experience rather than campaign on certain portfolios as this system is inherently flexible and fluid and many Directors may in fact share one portfolio (such as Festival Programming, which all 9 members must work on collectively) or otherwise overlap with another's duties.

My name is Angelina and I identify as a heterosexual feminist and use the pronouns she/her. I feel incredibly passionate about social justice work in our community. I am a Registered Social Worker with the NLASW and currently work at the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador as the Provincial Coordinator of HIV&HCV Services. My responsibilities include awareness and prevention education around HIV and Hepatitis C, supportive services including counseling and advocacy, and managing ACNL’s supportive housing. I’ve been incredibly active within my school during the duration of my degree, and equally active within my community. The Women’s Resource Centre at MUN initially introduced me to social justice work and I learned quickly that activism is exciting. I quickly got involved in projects, and was fortunate to both direct and perform in The Vagina Monologues for three years. I was elected by my cohort to sit as Vice-President of my student executive with the School of Social Work. I organized several social justice rallies related to body positivity and rape culture awareness. Within my community, I have been active with Voices for Choice since my first year at MUN. I continue to organize pro-choice rallies and promote Choice throughout the community. I was active in starting St. John’s Hearing Voices Network – a peer support group for individuals who hear voices. I was also involved in the organization of the St. John's Slut Walk last summer.
I would be ecstatic to become a member of the St. John’s Pride Board of Directors. I have significant experience in planning fundraisers, networking with community partners, and facilitating volunteers. I am eagerly and actively learning about the LGBTQ* community and strive to be a strong ally and community partner in advocacy and education. I understand the importance of intersectionality and I’m highly self-aware of the privilege afforded to me by heterosexuality, which I think is key in my ability to be a respectful voice in contribution my knowledge and skills to building a more inclusive community for everyone.
Feel free to ask me any questions!

Hello,
My name is Tiffany, I am a cis-gender female, my pronouns are she/her, and I identify as bi. I would love the opportunity to work with the St. John's Pride board. I have learnt that there is no better feeling than working with an inclusive, feminist team of people, with a common goal in mind. I have worked in a Transition house for women for the past 6 years. Much like pride, my jobs foremost important responsibility is to create a safe space for people to thrive. This has become more than just part of my job description, it is now my passion as well. If elected I look forward to assisting in the planning and organizing of pride week and other pride events. Lastly, I believe strongly that it is important to give back to the organizations that have certainly given to you.
Heres a little bit more about me; I am a 3rd year MUN student, studying Law&Society, and I work for MUNSU. I can't wait to see everyone during pride week!
I hope I can count on your vote! Tiff

Morning, candidates! A question from your Internal Co-chair, Tj Jones:
The weeks leading up to Pride Week (and of course the Week itself) can be quite hectic and busy, and require a fair bit of commitment, prioritization, and physical presence from each and every member of the Board. Do you believe yourself able to make such a commitment, given your individual schedules?

Thanks for the question Tj. Personally, I think I would be able to commit a lot of time and energy to the SJ Pride Board for the preparation and execution of Pride Week. This time last year, I was very active in several committee's with the School of Social Work (graduation committee, social committee, admissions committee) while remaining active with my class executive, multiple other volunteer responsibilities, and upholding a full course load and part-time job. I enjoy being active in my community. Being active and involved helps me take care of myself and practise self-care. Since graduation, I've been searching for community opportunities because so much of my activism with school has come to an end. My professional role with the AIDS Committee of NL is incredibly supportive of my desire to join the SJ Pride BOD. As an organization, we are also looking to be more involved in Pride Week, so my responsibilities and involvement may sometimes be twofold. Outside of work, my schedule is very flexible.

Hey there! My name is Laura! I'm 25, and I identify as a cis-gender and bi female! I have always been passionate about the lgbtq community here in St. John's, and would love the opportunity to work with St. John's pride. As a bisexual female, I believe above all else that inclusion is the most important, as is representation. I am passionate about my identity as bisexual and as a feminist, and being apart of this board is something I would not take lightly and would have major pride in. There is nothing better then people coming together with one common goal. I have been apart of the Vagina Monologues for the past 5 years, and in doing so have learned the importance of bringing people together that have a passion for their beliefs. In being apart of these productions, a production of the play "8" (about proposition 8 in California) and also a part of the volunteering crew for the NL women's film festivals, I have also learned how important it is for people to acknowledge and give back to the communities that have given them so much without even realizing it. I can't list off endless amounts of experience, but I can tell you that I am a bright and creative person with a lot of personality, and that loud side of me can always be relied on for fighting back and celebrating an amazing cause such as Pride.
In reference to the previous question, I thrive when busy. I am not someone who stresses easily over hectic situations (i attribute that to my years of working retail at christmas!) mostly because when people come together planning something they are excited about, it doesn't seem like work and it becomes fun! As well, my schedule is very flexible and my time would be given 100% because this is something I am both excited and passionate about.

Hello!
To respond to your question TJ, I will definitely be available during this time. I know it is crucial to have all hands on deck, especially in the days, and weeks leading up to an event. My only major commitment during the summer will be school, allowing Pride week to be a priority for me. In the past I have enjoyed organizing many conferences for student leadership while being a full time student.
